MLB Trivia: A Hot Month

Troy Tulowitzki has already hit 15 homers this September. Back in 1937, Detroit's Rudy York set the AL record for most homers in a month with 18. The NL (and major league) record for most homers in a month was set much more recently than 1937. Can you name the player who holds this record? (Hint: This player hit 20 homers in one June to remember. He is no longer playing in the MLB, but he's still alive.)

I want to say Barry Bonds. I think he had a crazy ridiculous month when he hit the 73, steroids or no.

although maybe it was Sammy Sosa too, because I just remembered how he magically caught up to McGwire during the crazy sterioded HR binge. I could go either way on Bonds or Sosa...I will have to look it up.

Pauly, your line of thinking is right on the money. In 1998, Mark McGwire jumped out to a huge lead in homers. But after Sammy Sosa hit 20 homers that June, the great home run race of '98 got a lot more interesting.
